Double the love – huge puppy and Older Age Pooch (OAP) hope to be lucky in love this Valentine's Day

Dogs Trust Loughborough is hoping that as Valentine’s Day approaches, two very different dogs looking for love can find their soul mates.

Eleven-month-old Caucasian Shepherd, Narla, and ten-year-old Border Collie, Oscar, both arrived at the rehoming centre last summer, but have so far found themselves unlucky in love.

Now the team are hoping it won’t be too long before they each find their special someone to share fun times and cosy evenings with.

Celine Di Crocco, Manager at Dogs Trust Loughborough, says:

“Narla and Oscar couldn’t be more different when it comes to their age and size, but the one thing they have in common is that they both deserve to be at the heart of loving homes.

“They found themselves with us through no fault of their own; as is the case with so many of our dogs, a change in their families’ circumstances resulted in them being handed over to us.

“Narla is a huge, furry, playful, affectionate puppy, who loves to play with other dogs and her toys, and Oscar is very clever and super playful for his age. We have all fallen in love with them but now we want them to capture the hearts of people who can give them the homes of their dreams.”

The team say as a young dog Narla is showing lots of potential and thoroughly enjoys her training, particularly if there’s a tasty treat on offer. Although Oscar may be getting on in years, he is proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks as he is happiest when his brain and body are kept busy.

Oscar is looking for a female only household without too many comings and goings so he can settle in quickly, and he can be sensitive to noise so would prefer a quieter home.

Both need homes without children and both would benefit from a secure garden to play and relax in. Narla has some medical issues so needs less exercise than most dogs.  She isn’t currently a fan of car travel, so her new family needs to live within 45 minutes of the rehoming centre.

Celine adds:

“We are really hoping that as we spend time with our loved ones this Valentine’s Day, these two special dogs will steal the hearts of dog lovers and soon be lapping up all the love on offer in forever homes of their own.”
