Tik Tok fundraisers raise thousands for Dogs Trust Loughborough with doggie calendar

A group of dog lovers who met on Tik Tok have raised more than £2,000 for Dogs Trust Loughborough by selling a calendar featuring dogs from the social media channel.

Dawn Hendley from Derby and Emma Knight from Ashbourne along with Elaine Braidwood from Scotland and Nicola Jackson from Newcastle, have sold more than 200 2022 calendars raising a total so far of £2,096, which will be used to buy a new piece of agility equipment for one of the outdoor play areas at the rehoming centre.

Dawn says:

“With the help an amazing group of people who all love dogs, we are so pleased we have raised this money for Dogs Trust and that it’s going to be put to such good use.

“We decided to create a calendar and put an ask out on Tik Tok explaining what we wanted to do and requesting photos of dogs to feature in it.

“We thought we might get just enough photos, but we were inundated. We received 180 photos of gorgeous dogs from all over the UK and as far away as Italy, Germany, America and Canada. We didn't want to miss any of them out, so every month ended up having lots of dogs on, which is lovely.

“We have now sold it to dog lovers across the UK and the world! It has been so successful we are working on another one and the money will go to Dogs Trust again.”

Dogs Trust Loughborough has 20 outdoor play compounds for the dogs at the centre and Manager Celine Di Crocco, says having agility equipment in them makes all the difference to the dog's play time.

Celine says:

“The agility equipment really gives our canine carers the chance to have fun with the dogs and from the dog's perspective it gives them lots of variety. Some dogs love to just run around, others like to play fetch but some dogs love to jump, weave in and out, play hide and seek and agility equipment gives them the chance to do all this, which really enriches their time outdoors.

“We are so grateful to everyone involved. We hope they'll come back to the centre when we have the equipment in place so they can see what a huge difference it makes to our dogs whilst they are here waiting for their forever homes.”
