‘Yappy’ seventh birthday!

Dogs Trust Loughborough is celebrating its seventh birthday - and finding forever homes for more than 5,000 rescue dogs.

Since the rehoming centre opened its doors to the dog-loving public in June 2012, dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages, from newborn puppies to Old Age Pooches (OAPs), have found their forever families. Now, as they celebrate saying a fond farewell to 5,150 dogs, the team want to say ‘thank you’ to everyone that has supported them.

Celine Di Crocco, Dogs Trust Loughborough Manager, says:

“We are so grateful to everyone who has adopted a dog from us, or more than one! But we also want to say a huge thank you to our volunteers who work alongside us every day of the year, including Christmas Day. They help us make sure our dogs have whatever they need whilst they are with us, from walks to cuddles or an extra bit of training.

“But we also want to say thank you to our fantastic foster carers who help us make sure dogs who don’t settle into kennel life have all the TLC they need, and everyone who supports us in any way either by coming along to our events or bringing in donations such as bedding or tasty treats for the dogs. Everyone’s generosity never ceases to amaze us.”

Dogs Trust Loughborough stretches over 14 acres and as well as having 70 kennels there are paddocks for the dogs to play in with the canine carers and their doggie pals, a hydrotherapy suite and the Stepping Stones sanctuary where dogs who need a bit more TLC and special attention are looked after. The latest addition to the rehoming centre is the ‘Puppy Palace’ which provides additional space for puppies to enjoy running around outside as well as giving them an indoor space where they can enjoy cuddles and quiet time with their carers.

One of the older dogs currently being looked after at Dogs Trust Loughborough and hoping to find his forever home soon is ten-year-old Pomeranian Latte.

Celine says:

“Latte is a beautiful dog looking for a very special home. He has been with us quite some time now but one of the things we are most proud of here at Dogs Trust is that we will care for a dog until they find their forever home, however long that takes and we will make sure they are happy and fulfilled whilst they are with us.

“Latte is a very happy boy! He has built a fantastic bond with his two-legged friends here at the rehoming centre and would thrive in a home with no other pets and just one person so he can build a bond with them in his new home. Once he has built his confidence around you he absolutely loves a cuddle and is lovely to spend time with so we’re really hoping his special someone visits soon. Just like all our dogs, he deserves to be at the heart of a loving home.”

If you would like to make the team’s birthday wish come true and think you could be the one to give Latte his forever home, please call Dogs Trust Loughborough on 01509 273349.
