Are you right for Zara?

Lovely Zara is a nine-year-old Beage cross looking for a loving home with patient and understanding adopters. She could share her home with teenage children; she is worried by young children. Zara is looking to be the only dog in the home. Out and about she would benefit from having doggy pals to socialise with, she prefers smaller breeds and needs to build confidence. She is housetrained. She travels well in the car. Zara adores the company and would like her adopters to be at home with her as much as possible. Time left alone will need to be built up gradually. She is likely to be worried by visitors; and would best suit a quiet home environment. Experience and knowledge of anxious dogs and dog body language would be beneficial.

Is Zara right for you?

Zara is a gentle, sensitive soul who needs a slow, calm approach to building friendships; Shy around new people but given time, space, and a ‘hands off’ approach, Zara comes around when she is ready to trust you. Potential adopters will need to be understanding of her needs and help her build confidence. Zara enjoys squeaky toys and she sometimes chases after a ball. She loves any treats on offer, and she knows a sit, stay, down, and paw. She enjoys sniffing – gathering information about the world around her, and she would enjoy playing scent games. She loves to take naps in her cosy bed and like all of us, she does not like to be disturbed when she is snoozing! Zara’s favourite walks are in woodlands, quiet beaches, and anywhere not too busy with people. Zara walks nicely on her lead, and she enjoys the company of calm, small dogs, she may even have a little play. She can be worried by big, boisterous dogs. She is not a fan of the rain. She loves to be near you, and she likes a fuss on her terms.
