Deck the halls with boughs of Collies!

Collage of dogs in the snow

With the Christmas season well and truly upon us, a number of doggy residents are getting ready to spend their Christmas with the team at the West Calder centre.

For some of our dogs, this won’t be their first Christmas here but they have their paws crossed that their Christmas wishes of finding their forever homes will come true in the new year!

But don’t worry there will be pampered pooches a plenty at West Calder! There will be toys, treats and of course presents to make sure everypawdy has a merry Christmas!

Meet some of our dogs who will be spending Christmas at the centre and who would love to find a family of their very own…

Hooly, a border collie in the snow “Holly Jolly Christmas”

Holly is an 8 year old Collie cross. Holly has been looking for her forever home for some time now and she would love to find a quiet adult only home in the countryside where she can enjoy rural walks and run around the garden with her favourite squeaky toys! Holly is a sensitive girl and she needs patient and understanding owners who can build up a strong and trusting bond with her. But once Holly knows and trusts you, she is a very loving and affectionate pooch!

Alfie, a jack russell terrier “Alfie’ll be home for Christmas”

Little Alfie is an 8 year old Jack Russell Terrier. Alfie loves to explore on his walks and investigate all the sniffs and smells he can find! Alfie is an independent wee lad and while he enjoys being in the company of his loved ones, he does not like being handled and needs a space of his own where he can relax and play. Alfie is looking for an adult only home with his own garden and he is a clever pooch who will happily show off his tricks for some yummy treats!

A lurcher playing in the snow “Blue Christmas”

Blue is a 6 year old Lurcher. Blue loves nothing more than to have fun and he can usually be found running around the garden playing with his favourite teddy! Blue loves the great outdoors and is always happy to go on his walks or jump into the car to seek out new places to explore! This lovable Lurcher is searching for a quiet adult only home. Blue does need to take his time building up friendships, but once he’s got to know you, his larger than life character will shine through!

Spencer, a crossbreed “Here comes Spencer Claus”

Spencer is a 1 year old crossbreed. Spencer loves to be the centre of attention and will happily greet everyone with a waggy tail! This playful boy would love his own garden where he can run around and play games with his family. Spencer would be happiest as the only pet in his home and he likes to go for walks in quiet areas away from other dogs. He can live with children aged around 16 years old and above. Spencer is very loving and is always looking for ways to please his family and get an ear scratch!

Scooby, a jack russell terrier “Scooby Claus is coming to town”

Scooby is a 5 year old Terrier cross. Scooby loves to spend time with his favourite people and he’ll never say no to a tasty treat! Scooby is an active boy who loves to be out and about in the garden and on his walks. He does not like to be around other dogs and is at his most content with his family and so he needs to be walked in quiet areas and to the be the only pet at home. Scooby is a fun-loving pooch who loves to play games and snuggle up with his favourite people!

Don’t forget our dedicated foster families will be continuing to care for our dogs in the Home from Home scheme during the festive period and these dogs are still on the lookout for their forever homes such as Dusty and Vinnie!

Our pawsome Sponsor Dogs Hamish, Sammy and Rosie will also be celebrating their Christmas with everyone at the centre! And Christmas Day is doubly magical for Sammy as that’s also his birthday!
