Many of us have considered jumping out of a plane for charity but few get to the stage of actually doing it. This wasn’t the case for Bethany James, a Canine Carer at Dogs Trust Snetterton, and nine other fundraisers from AJN Steelstock, as on 24th August they jumped out of a plane, all in aid of charity.
After their first attempt was delayed due to the tail end winds from Hurricane Bertha the team’s anticipation had grown considerably by the final date. Thankfully, the second trip to Beccles Heliport was a success and all 10 ladies descended the 13,000 feet to land safely.
Says Bethany James:
“I’ve always wanted to do a skydive so when this opportunity came up I couldn’t resist. To know that collectively we raised £16,000 for Dogs Trust Snetterton is even more amazing, it makes those two trips to the airfield more than worth it! But for my next fundraising effort I might stay on the ground!”
The funds raised will be put to great use at the Norfolk-based rehoming centre, which cares for 77 dogs. As Diane McLelland-Taylor, Dogs Trust Snetterton Rehoming Centre Manager says:
“I’m incredibly proud of Bethany and her fellow skydivers. To undertake any fundraising activity is highly commendable, but for the challenge to involve throwing yourself out of a plane takes another level of courage. As Dogs Trust relies solely on voluntary donations, the amazing endeavours of the team are greatly appreciated. AJN Steelstock have been extremely supportive of this rehoming centre over the years. Many of the improvements made to the buildings have directly increased the dogs welfare, and could not have happened without AJN’s support and generosity”
