Summertime and Dogs – The More You Know!

Pippa and flowers

Summer is in full swing (believe it or not!) and despite the occasional, frequent, showers we’ve had some warmer weather here at the Snetterton Rehoming Centre.

With the weather heating up recently, I thought it would be a good opportunity to talk about ways to keep your dog's safe in the heat and other summertime tips.

Myself and the lovely Pippa (picture above) often frequent local parks, forests and lakes during our time away from attending talks and different work-related commitments. We recently attended the lovely Deopham Village Fete with a Dogs Trust stand and the sun shone down on us all day, it was lovely! But what I was most concerned about was keeping Pippa as cool as possible (I wouldn’t want to be wearing a fur coat in sunshine like that!).

Here is a list of things you can do in the warmer months to make your four-legged friend more comfortable. Planning is essential!

Did you also know that there is quite a long list of flowers that can be quite poisonous to dogs? Some of them might surprise you! Find out more about making sure your garden is dog friendly.

It is so important to be aware of all these things so that we can keep our lovely dogs happy, healthy and safe during the warmer months, actually… all year round! You can never tell with this country from one day to the next what the weather might be like.
