Pets at Home

Helping keep our dogs healthy, well fed and enriched while we look for their forever homes.

Jackrussel terriers getting treats

Since 2012 Pets at Home have helped over 100,000 dogs in our care. Thanks to the generosity of Pets at Home and their Pets Club members (formally VIP Club), we’ve been able to feed and keep our dogs happy with enrichment, toys and supplies while they are waiting to find their forever new homes.

Through Pets at Home’s Pets Club, you can help us take care of dogs every time you shop online or in store, or use their grooming or vet services.

over 120,000kg of own brand dog food to us in 2024

Our work together

Pets at Home and their Pets Club members support us in two key ways:

Grubs up

Pets at Home generously provide own brand dry dog food to feed the majority of the dogs in our centres (unless there is a dietary or veterinary reason they need a different food). We also send all our dogs off to their new homes with a 2kg bag Pets at Home’s own brand dog food to help them settle in.

In 2024 Pets at Home kindly donated over 120,000 kg of own brand dry dog food to us – that’s equivalent in weight to over 1000 baby elephants!

Playtime and much more

Pets at Home also support us with Lifeline vouchers raised through their amazing Pets Club loyalty scheme. Thanks to this scheme, our rehoming centres can buy any items they need from Pets at Home, including bedding and blankets and other necessary items to care for our dogs.

We care for around 11,000 dogs every year, so we get through a lot of toys, treats and food! These are essential for enrichment for all our dogs and any training they may need.

In 2024 we received and incredible £126,000 in Lifeline vouchers for our local centres raised by over 320,000 local supporters.

Make a difference by joining the club that cares

By joining Pets at Home's Pet Club and selecting Dogs Trust as your nominated charity, you can help raise valuable lifelines points – at no extra cost to you - so we can buy essentials to support dogs in our care. Pets Club members receive personalised offers and expert advice, and new members receive 10% off their first shop.

When you select your nominated charity, you can search for 'Dogs Trust' and choose Dogs Trust national or a local centre to benefit as your lifeline charity. Every time you shop and scan using your Pets Club app, you'll earn points, which Pets at Home converts into lifeline vouchers. We spend vouchers on items such as food, treats, toys, bedding and enrichment games. These goodies help to keep the dogs in our care happy and mentally stimulated and get them ready for their forever homes.

Helping dogs like Billie

Billie arrived at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in February 2023. He was just over a year old and full of energy but with no known history or experience of living in a home. He needed time, patience, and plenty of training to help him build confidence and learn how to navigate the world around him, which was vital to prepare him for a forever home with the perfect family.

Our expert canine carers and training team worked patiently with Billie to teach him essential life skills, from basic obedience to socialising with other dogs. Some lessons were challenging, but with the right support (and lots of toys!), Billie made fantastic progress.

After nearly a year, Billie met his perfect match in Mandi, Chris, and Conal. With guidance from our team, they took part in his training journey, helping him settle into his forever home with confidence.

Thanks to the generous support of Pets at Home and Lifeline vouchers, our centres can purchase vital enrichment items like toys, training aids, and treats. These resources are essential in supporting dogs like Billie as they prepare for life beyond the kennel.

Giving us a helping paw

Pets at Home colleagues are never shy of lending a helping hand. Every year Pets at Home teams have helped us with volunteering activities at our busy rehoming centres. They always get stuck in with helping us look after our dogs: making enriching games, walking and playing with the dogs, and helping out with some of our many maintenance chores too.

My colleagues and I went to Dogs Trust Manchester yesterday for our volunteer day. We all had a great day with Kerry who really looked after us and was very informative. The highlight of our day was socialising with nine of the cutest puppies ever. We all have said how we would love to be volunteering again next year.
