Are you right for Rio?

Meet beautiful Rio, a 6-year old Staffy looking for his forever home! Rio is a really sweet man who LOVES his known people. He is unable to live with any dogs in the home, as he is still working hard at his social skills, but he would really benefit from his socialisation to be kept up in his new home. Rio will be needing an adult only home, as he is worried by new people. He is unsure of strangers, but he is doing really well with his intro plans here in the centre and making friends a lot easier! He doesn't enjoy the vets and formal handling, so would need an adopter who is willing to manage this and advocate for him. He is smashing his training and is happy to wear his muzzle on walks - which he looks incredibly handsome in!! His favourite game is tug of war, which he can be very vocal and passionate about! When Rio plays, he can be boisterous but he often takes himself off to play independently as well! He loves to explore and have sniffy walks out and about. His favourite activity is to roll around in grass and bushes, and will do so for hours at a time if you would allow it! Once he has gotten to know you, he loves a good cuddle! He can be a silly, goofy boy and will show you his silly side once you're his mate. He loves to be kept busy by doing tricky enrichment, and keeping his brain stimulated! He hasn't shown any guarding behaviours, and really enjoys settling down with a nice chew. Rio LOVES playing with his toys, and can be quite vocal when doing so, but he's just showing his excitement! Rio would really need a understanding, patient owner that's willing to go at his pace, and build that bond slowly over some time. He will be such a rewarding, fun companion & we can't wait to see him thriving in his forever home.

Is Rio right for you?

Rio is a very sweet boy, who is a staff favourite with his handlers. He has an intro plan that will be needing to be followed when meeting for the first few times, as he is unsure of strangers initially. Any potential adopters would need to be willing to travel to the centre a few times in order to build a bond. Rio is intense with dogs initially, but once he's had a sniff, he's happy to plod off and do his own thing! He can be a little frustrated on the lead, but he's been working really hard on this and has really improved so much. Rio can be restless in the car, and travels best in a crate so he can settle properly. He is also fully house-trained, and keeps his space nice and clean! He will need to wear his muzzle in busy areas out and about, but would suit a more rural location with not as much dog & people traffic where he can enjoy his walks stress-free! Rio will need a calm, quiet home where he can learn that he is safe and secure. He will thrive with gentle, kind and patient owners. Rio will be such a wonderful companion, and we can't wait for his forever people to show themselves!!!
