Cookie

I'm looking for my forever home. Could you be my perfect match?

Are you right for Cookie?

Cookie is a bright, energetic two-year-old lass who is looking for an experienced and understanding home to help her blossom. She can live with children aged 15 and up—though this may be negotiable for families confident with a boisterous and sometimes over-excited pooch. Cookie is best suited to being the only dog in the home where she can get all the attention. She will need to wear a lead and muzzle in public and for vet visits, as she currently has the potential to redirect onto dogs when she becomes over-aroused. Cookie will need ongoing support to feel more settled around other dogs. She cannot live with cats or small furries. Cookie has no known history of being left alone, so any alone time will need to be built up gradually once she feels at home. A calm and quiet household where someone is around most of the day—at least to begin with—will suit her best. Her ideal home will be one that understands her sensitivities around new people and unfamiliar environments and is confident managing behaviours linked to over-arousal.

Is Cookie right for you?

Cookie is clever, curious, and full of potential. She thrives when her brain is kept busy, and loves using her nose—so scent games, enrichment, and a predictable routine will all help her feel confident and calm. Once she has built a bond with you, Cookie is affectionate, cuddly, and lots of fun to be around. She is working hard on her impulse control and is learning that calm behaviour brings all the best things in life. She already knows a few basics like sit and paw, and would really benefit from ongoing rewards-based training to continue building her skills. Cookie is not phased by traffic and remained relaxed even when a lorry passed by quickly—showing she can take busy surroundings in her stride when supported. While she can be unsure about handling and new experiences, Cookie is learning that slow introductions and positive associations really help. She has done well with ‘Happy Vet Visits’ and has shown she can gain confidence when given time, choice, and consistency. She has moderate exercise needs and would love a mix of quieter walks, mental stimulation, and cuddle time once she is settled. If you are ready to help a smart, sensitive dog feel safe and flourish—and are comfortable working with her current management needs—Cookie could be the perfect girl to share your home and heart.
