Are you right for Minnie?

Minnie is a gorgeous Patterdale Terrier, aged approximately one-years-old. She is full of character, with a mix of energy and enthusiasm, as well as a cheeky side that is hard not to fall in love with. Being a young girl who hasn’t had the guidance needed in this early stage of her life, Minnie is now hoping to find patient adopters who are willing to support her with some ongoing training and gradual exposure to new experiences. She particularly needs support to walk calmly on lead, and build confidence around traffic, car travel, and other dogs. Minnie can be reactive when seeing other dogs and requires walk in quieter areas, while she works on her training, and she will need to be the only pet at home. While Minnie loves a gentle affection from her favourite friends, she can become easily overwhelmed and her excitement may bubble over, leading to frustration or grabbing behaviours. Because of this, and due to the lack of information that we have on her background, Minnie is looking for a quiet, adult-only home, without too many regular visitors. Minnie can find it challenging when left alone and would prefer a home with multiple family members, so that they could tag-team keeping her company if needing to leave the house. Leaving her alone at home is something that should be built up very gradually, and her adopters should ensure they pair Minnie’s ‘alone moments’ with positive outcomes, like food-based enrichment.

Is Minnie right for you?

Playful in her nature, Minnie LOVES to chase after her toys, particularly balls, and will happily play ‘fetch and swap’ with her people pals. However, she’s not so keen on ‘tug’ games as she can feel worried that you’re trying to take the toy away from her. She’s a real foodie and looks forward to her dinner time, but does prefer to eat in peace, so an undisturbed area of the house to eat would be ideal for her. Ultimately, this exuberant young lady would love to enjoy a life full of activity and excitement. Adventures, scent work, fun training, and engaging in various brain-boggling enrichment activities would all help to keep her tail wagging!
