Are you right for Sam?

Sam is a lovely older gentleman looking for a calm, comfortable home to enjoy his retirement years. At 15 years old, this sweet Jack Russell Terrier x Border Collie still loves his walks, enjoys playing with toys (especially balls!), and likes having his favourite people nearby. He is fully house trained, can be left for reasonable periods once settled, and is happy to free roam the home. Sam is a friendly boy who enjoys meeting people, although he can be a little excitable when visitors first arrive. He soon settles down once he feels comfortable. He can be sensitive to unexpected handling, particularly around his paws and tail, so he would be best suited to a home with sensible older children aged 14+ who can respect his space. Sam enjoys being out and about and particularly loves quieter woodland walks. He can be selective around some dogs, especially larger fluffy breeds, so he will need understanding owners who are happy to continue building his confidence with calm introductions and positive experiences. Like many older dogs, Sam appreciates a quieter lifestyle and a predictable routine. He can be worried by loud noises such as fireworks, hoovers and large vehicles, so he would love patient adopters who can help him feel safe and settled. In return, Sam is a wonderfully well-behaved, affectionate little companion who would love somewhere peaceful to enjoy his golden years.

Is Sam right for you?

Sam has been described as an absolute pleasure to have around. He still enjoys an active lifestyle for his age and loves getting out on his walks, playing games and spending time with his people. He walks nicely much of the time, knows several basic commands, and enjoys both food treats and toys. His ideal home would be a calm environment with patient owners who understand that older dogs sometimes need a little extra reassurance while settling in. Once comfortable, Sam is a loyal, fun little character who will make a wonderful companion for the right family.
