Are you right for Dexter?

Dexter is a beautiful and bright lad looking for an active family with an interest in training. He is looking to be the only dog in the home but would benefit from continuing with his socialisation once he’s settles into his new home. Dexter is looking for a calm, adult only home environment with minimal visitors while he settles in and finds his feet, as he can often come across as more confident than he actually is. Dexter has shown resource guarding behaviour around resting areas, food, and novel items so will need a family who are happy to manage this behaviour, and work alongside out training team to learn about positive training methods and his ongoing training. Dexter is a super smart boy and can often get frustrated which can cause him to show mouthy behaviours, especially with his lead. He will need his own secure garden where he can play fetch all day, but will need help learning how to swap. Dexter will need to meet his new family multiple times before going home so that they can build a bond!

Is Dexter right for you?

Dexter is such a smart boy and keeps us all on our toes! He can be quite sensitive and anxious but doesn’t often show it, so will need really understanding owners who can really take their time with him. Dexter loves learning new things, and is currently undergoing crate training to help manage his resource guarding. Dexter loves being out in nature, and would walk all day if he could, so would like a home where he can go for lots of adventures. He has been in a home briefly but will need refreshing in all areas including housetraining, and any time left on his own will need to be built up gradually to keep his busy brain occupied. Dexter is a great boy who will be a rewarding companion, and is looking for some stability to help him settle and reach his potential.
