Are you right for Wilson?

Wilson is looking for a quiet home with experienced dog owners who can give him the life he deserves. Wilson would like an adult only home with no visiting children and he would like to be the only pet in his home as he doesn’t like to share his toys or food but he can have walking friends to socialise with as he is good with other dogs when out and about. He would like owners who are willing to work on his ongoing training and recognise when he needs space. He can be wary of strangers so he will need owners that will advocate for him in situations where he might feel a bit worried so that he can take his time which will help to build his confidence. He is a wonderful boy with his training, knows lots of things and is muzzle trained so that he can be safe in situations that might make him uncomfortable. Wilson would need a separate area for feeding time and he would need to be separated while his humans are eating too so he doesn’t get over excited as he does love food! For this reason Wilson would not be able to live in an open plan home where the kitchen cannot be closed off to him. Wilson was housetrained previously and does his best to be clean in his kennel. Wilson would like to have his new adopters with him for most of his day when he first goes home until he has settled in as he hasn’t been left alone in previous homes, but he does settle nicely in his kennel and snuggles down in his bed. Wilson will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home to build a strong bond so please bear this in mind when applying. He will need visits from our behaviour team once he goes home so adopters will need to live within 45 minutes driving distance from the Canterbury Rehoming Centre so please bear this in mind prior to applying for him. If you rent your property, please have written permission from your landlord ready once you have submitted your application to avoid delays, as it will be required early on in the rehoming process if you are shortlisted.

Is Wilson right for you?

Wilson is a beautiful 4 year old Labrador Cross with a huge heart and huge personality! He loves going for walks where he can do lots of sniffing and exploring and walks really nicely on his lead in familiar places. He does love his food (sometimes a bit too much) and this will be a great way to build a bond with him and for engaging him in positive training. Wilson really needs a home to call his own where he can settle in to the life of a loved family pet. With time, patience and once a bond is built, this boy will make such a fantastic, loyal and fun companion.
