Covid-19 update: Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with social distancing measures in place to keep our staff and adopters safe.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but you can still make an appointment to adopt or bring a dog to us. We’ve set up new processes to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe, including matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free.

Local restrictions may affect our rehoming procedures, so please check the rules for your area: we’re not able to facilitate appointments or adoptions across different tiers, or anywhere there are travel restrictions.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

About Big Daisy

5 to 7 Years

I am currently looking for my new family. To apply to rehome me please click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match. Due to current government guidelines all applicants must live within 30-minute drive from the Basildon centre so we can facilitate our 'Handover at home' process. Type of home needed

This big beautiful lady is Daisy. Daisy is a gentle giant who loves to say hello to everyone she meets and enjoys having a good fuss. Daisy is looking for a very special new home who are ready and willing to help her take on her weight-loss challenge. Daisy does have some medical concerns and being on the larger size, this doesn't make it super easy for her to shed the pounds. Due to this she is currently undergoing hydrotherapy which she really enjoys to help her burn off some extra weight, and once in her new home it is essential that she continues her hydrotherapy sessions. There are likely to be extra costs for adopters in future so this needs to be kept in mind, however beauty and a lovely trim waistline never did come cheap for anyone!

More about me

5-year-old Daisy will need an easily accessible home without many steps to get in and out to her own private secure garden. Ideally Daisy would like a carpeted home to make it easier for her to get up and wander about after a snooze, or alternatively have a new family who are happy to add non-slip mats to any wooden or laminate flooring to help with this. Daisy is fully housetrained and has been able to be left alone for a couple of hours in her foster home without any issues. Daisy will need to be the only pet in the home and can live with teenagers of the age of 14.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Big Daisy, who is based at Basildon (Essex). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
