Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Zara is a 12 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and she is living in a foster home. Due to current restrictions we will only be considering applications that are within a 1 hour car journey. To apply to adopt me please click on the "Come Meet Me" button below. Applications will close when a suitable match has been found. Zara is a sweet girl who loves to be around people and will happily join you on the couch for a cuddle. She enjoys a quiet life with her home comforts and can often be found snuggled up under her blankets with a tasty treat.

Type of home needed

Zara is looking for new owners who will be around most of the day to keep her company as she doesn't like to be alone for long periods of time. She would enjoy her own garden where she can explore and play with her new owners. Zara can be worried by other dogs and would prefer to be the only pet in the home. Zara is an older lady and hear is not as sharp as it used to be. Zara can live with children aged 12 and over.

More about me

Zara enjoys quiet walks away from the distraction of other dogs where she can potter around and take her time enjoying her surroundings. Although Zara is an older girl she is still very active and loves to have a wee Zoomie around. She still has an excellent nose and would spend hours sniffing out her treats from her snuffle mat.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Zara, who is based at West Calder (Edinburgh). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
