I'm looking for a new home...

About Shep

8 and over

Shep is a beautiful eight-year-old Collie cross. We are currently taking interest in Shep whilst the training team are still working with him, and potential owners will need to be aware of the slow adoption process for Shep. He is looking for a committed and very experienced, adult only home who is Collie savvy and ideally have had a dog with behavioural issues previously. Shep is a complex chap who takes a long time to get to know new people, due to this, he will require lots of multiple visits to the centre; therefore, his home must be within an hour and a half drive of the centre and potential adopters must be able to visit the centre regularly with a few days in between each visit.

Type of home needed

Shep's home will need to be rural and quiet and with very few visitors to the home and no children at all visiting. His garden must be safe and secure for him to enjoy, as he loves playing with toys and engaging in lots of activities. Due to Shep's reactivity to strangers, he must be muzzled when out and about and will also need to be walked in low populated areas. A plan will need to be put in place in the home when there are visitors or people at the door, so a training program will be given on how to manage this safely. Shep does mix with smaller dogs at the centre who are calm and confident. But he will need to be the only dog in the home and he is unable to live with cats/small furries.

More about me

Once a good relationship has developed with Shep, he is a very loyal and loving dog. He loves to keep busy doing activities and keeping his mind busy. Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Bridgend Rehoming Centre in Wales.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
