Hugh is a 1 year old Labrador cross Golden Retriever. He is a handsome boy who is very active. Although he is still young, he will need continued training through out his life to keep him mentally and physically happy. He loves training and is very food motivated which is great. He is a clever boy and would love to do scent training or something similar.

Type of home needed

Hugh will need an adult only home with owners who have breed experience, or experience of owning a high energy dog. He is playful with other dogs and can live with another dog already in the home who would put up with Hugh's boisterous nature and who will help teach him good manners. His new home will need a private and secure garden. He has the potential to guard high value items but he will 'drop' and 'swap', this will need to be managed and advice from our training team will be given on how to manage this. Hugh will need slow introductions to his new home as he can get over-excited and jump up, so potential adopters will need to make a few visits to the Centre and our training team will need to make a few visits to Hugh's new home to help with his settling in. Hugh would not be suitable to live with cats.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Cardiff Rehoming Centre in Wales.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
