Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Blue is a 7 year old Lurcher. Due to current restrictions, I can't go to my forever home just yet, but you can contact the rehoming centre to register your interest. When restrictions ease, and if we're a suitable match, you will be able to discuss me in more detail with my carers at the centre. Thank you so much for your interest in me! Blue is a beautiful boy that loves to have lots of fun and can always be found running around playing with his favourite teddy. Blue loves being outdoors and will happily jump in the car to go on a new adventure where he can sniff and explore all the new sights and smells. Blue is very sweet and loving towards his owners but is worried around unfamiliar people. Blue takes a long time to build a friendship with people, he does not enjoy a lot of fuss and can feel overwhelmed if this is given to quick or too soon.

Type of home needed

Blue would like a quiet home where he can take his time building a friendship with you. We are unsure of Blue's past and he can be mistrustful or worried by too much handling. Blue would love a home with his own garden where he can relax and enjoy life. Blue is looking for an adult only home with owners who have had nervous dogs before.

More about me

Blue is a larger than life character, he is cute and loving and easily makes you laugh with his comical antics. Blue is house-trained, very clever and loves a cosy bed. Blue does need owners to come to the centre several times to build a friendship with him before going to his new home. *PLEASE NOTE WE CANNOT CURRENTLY REHOME TO ANYONE OUTSIDE OF SCOTLAND DUE TO TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS*

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Blue, who is based at West Calder (Edinburgh). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
