Our rehoming centres are not open for public browsing but you can still make an appointment to adopt or bring a dog to us.

We’ve set up new processes which include social distancing measures to help keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

We’re now matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can now meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment and this now applies to all of our rehoming centres in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

I'm looking for a new home...

About Dexter

2 to 5 Years

Dexter is a 3 year old Border Collie. To apply to rehome me please click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match. He is a handsome boy who loves the people he knows and trusts. He is super playful and is always up for a game of catch with his tennis ball! Dexter is looking for an adult only home, he can meet some dogs when out on his walks but would need to be the only pet in the house as he does not like to live with dogs and can not live with a cat. Dexter does not like busy or noisy places and would need to live in a rural location with fields or land surrounding him. Due to Dexter being scared and worried by noise his house would need to be in the country and not next to neighbours.

Type of home needed

Dexter is looking for new owners that have an active lifestyle and have owned Collies before. He would like a quiet household with his own garden where he can run around playing with his toys or where he can rest and relax while enjoying a peaceful environment. Dexter is house-trained and happy to be left alone at home for a couple of hours.

More about me

Dexter is super clever, he knows his name, how to sit and most importantly how to fetch the ball! Dexter enoys walking in quiet areas, especially rural hills or the countryside where he feels relaxed. Dexter will to meet his new owners a few times before he goes to his new home.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Dexter, who is based at West Calder (Edinburgh). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. We can’t register interest for dogs who aren’t available for rehoming. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
