Maxx is a 6-year-old Pekingese cross. He is an active boy and enjoys his walks around our woods and also taking part in some training. He likes a cuddle once he knows you, but when he's out and about he can tend to keep himself to himself at times - there's lots of important sniffing and exploring to do! He enjoys his food which is helpful for keeping him focussed and he is always keen to learn new things!

Type of home needed

Maxx is looking for an active adult only home. He will need his own private garden to explore in and also quiet areas to walk. He is very wary of dogs, so will need to be walked in low dog populated areas and be the only pet in the home. He would like his new owners to be around for the majority of the time while he settles as he can be worried when left on his own. His new adopters must be willing to work alongside the behaviourists at the centre to help settle Maxx into his new home and must also live within 45 minutes of the centre in order for the behaviourists to carry out home visits.

More about me

If Maxx sounds like your perfect match, please get in contact to express an interest. Please note if you rent your property, you must be able to provide written permission from your landlord to keep a dog to complete the rehome process. Due to expected high levels of interest you will only hear back from us if we are able to proceed with your application. We will conduct a rehoming interview with successful applicants and home visit via video. Access to emails and video technology will be essential for this process.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Canterbury Rehoming Centre in Kent.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
