Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Inky really enjoys his food and giving him a treat is an easy way to his heart! Inky loves going on his walks as he uses his nose a lot to find different smells to get to know his surroundings.

Type of home needed

Inky is a charming lad who has a complex but colourful character. He is very interactive and loves his food and fuss. It takes him a short while to get confident with new people but quickly finds his feet and becomes very playful. Inky has some handling issues which are easily worked around. However, this means he must be rehomed to an adult only home. Likewise, he prefers to be the only pet in the home so he can get all the attention. Inky is currently under going training to try and make his handling easier and more enjoyable, specifically for vets visits and grooming. He loves his treats and is very trainable, so these exercises can be continued into his new home. Getting to know Inky is a very enjoyable experience as he is a very sweet boy, but he does require a multiple visits for him to get to know you.

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
