Barley is a 3 year old large lurcher cross who is a firm favourite with all the staff. He likes to keep his mind active but equally needs to learn how to relax. Barley is a sweetheart but can be worried around many aspects of life, he will need patient owners willing to give him the time to build a bond and are prepared to take on multiple training programmes with the help of our behaviour team.
Type of home needed
Barley is looking for a VERY quiet home in a rural setting away from roads that have experience with reactive rescue dogs. He could potentially live with children aged 14 and over that are comfortable around large, bouncy dogs. He will need to be walked in area's with limited traffic and not too busy with other dog walkers, that are within walking distance from the home as training in the car will need to be continued before he can travel. Barley will need new owners who will give him time to settle in and understand that he will need a lot of time spent working towards completing multiple training programmes that our training team will give ongoing support with. Barley could potentially live with a calm well established female dog of a similar size if meets were successful at the centre.
More about me
Barley is looking for his new owners to be around most of the day to build up any time being left. Treats and bum scratches are the way to Barley's heart. He needs a secure garden with a minimum of 6ft fencing. Due to the amount of visits Barley requires to get to know new people we can only accept applications from people that live within an hour of the centre. During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our
rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful
staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now
able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs.
This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of
being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by
your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without
your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to
those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs
get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them
their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult
time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue
looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...
