Covid-19 update: Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with social distancing measures in place to keep our staff and adopters safe.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but you can still make an appointment to adopt or bring a dog to us. We’ve set up new processes to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe, including matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free.

Local restrictions may affect our rehoming procedures, so please check the rules for your area: we’re not able to facilitate appointments or adoptions across different tiers, or anywhere there are travel restrictions.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Annie is an 8yr old Akita. Don't let her age fool you, she still loves her walks and exploring her surroundings. She enjoys her food and will work for treats. This will make training sessions much easier. Annie has a very sweet nature once she has been given enough time and patience to build up a bond.

Type of home needed

Annie is looking for an adult only home. Visitors would need to be managed, especially children. Annie is sensitive with handling so will need patient owners who will give her the time she needs to settle in and learn to trust you. Ideally she would benefit from owners who have breed experience. Annie is also worried by traffic and travelling so will need a home in a quiet area away from the hussle and bussle of busy roads. She will also need a secure garden for off lead play and training. Annie would be able to be left for up to 2-4hrs if built up gradually.

More about me

Annie is starting to come out of her shell here and is now ready to find her new furever home.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Annie, who is based at Newbury (Berkshire). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
