Our rehoming centres are not open for public browsing but you can still make an appointment to adopt or bring a dog to us. We’ve set up new processes which include social distancing measures to help keep staff, visitors and adopters safe. We’re now matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can now meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Denny is a very handsome 4 year old ex-racing Greyhound. He is a very sweet, clever boy but can sometimes struggle with his anxiety levels. He loves his toys, especially the squeaky ones! He will have a crazy 5 minutes of throwing them up in the air and then retreat to his bed to squeak them. Denny also enjoys walking with his fellow Greyhound friends, he sometimes struggle to find the confidence to walk in unfamiliar places, but gains that much needed confidence from being around his own kinds.

Type of home needed

Denny is looking for a quiet, adult only home with very limited visitors. His new home will need to be prepared to take on all of Denny's training programmes, as well as taking everything very slowly, whilst he gets used to the outside world and his new home environment. Due to Denny ex-racing background, he will need to wear a muzzle whilst in public. Although Denny likes to be around other Greyhounds, other breeds can be a bit confusing and exciting for him. His new home will need to continue his work around other dogs, as well as building up his confidence. Denny will need multiple visits to the centre before being adopted, as he is worried by new people and will need time to get to know them. Ideally looking for a home within an hours drive of the centre. Denny will need a secure garden, with at least 6ft fencing, so he can enjoy his zoomies safely. To start with Denny cannot be left and will need a training programme to increase anytime left, very slowly.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Denny, who is based at Newbury (Berkshire). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. We can’t register interest for dogs who aren’t available for rehoming. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
