Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Groot is best described as being the class clown! Since moving to Loughborough his confidence has grown and we want to continue this by finding him the perfect home!

Type of home needed

Groot is 2 years old and can live with young adults aged 15 years and over and must live with a confident dog to help show him the ropes and help him settle into home life. He will also need direct access to a very secure garden with very high fences, a home located in a quiet, semi rural area away from traffic and an area of the home that can be his own space. Although Groot will be a little nervous when he first meets you he has real potential to form strong bonds with his new family.

More about me

If you're interested in applying to adopt Groot, click on the 'come and meet me' button. We've got social distancing measures in place to ensure we keep our staff and adopters safe - we'll discuss all the details with you if your application is successful. Please note you must live within 30 minutes of the centre. Applications will close when Groot has found a suitable match.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Groot, who is based at Loughborough. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
