Rehoming by appointment

Our rehoming centres are open by appointment only. We're still rehoming, but we're doing things a little differently.

If you're looking for a fun and energetic dog and have a real passion for training, then let us introduce you to Beau. He's a 1-year-old Lurcher who is bursting with potential. A very unsettled start to his life has left him with some anxieties that his new family will need to understand and help him work on. He's a very friendly lad and likes plenty of fuss and attention but can get overly giddy. Being rather strong, this does mean that being around young children wouldn't be suitable. Over 16's will be fine however. He can be worried by unfamiliar people entering his home, so a family with few visitors will be best. He can also be worried by other dogs, however we are working on this with him. He's super smart and loves doing training tasks. If you keep his brain exercised, then you'll have one very happy boy!

Type of home needed

Beau needs patient and dedicated owners who have previous experience of an anxious rescue dog. His training plan here has been going brilliantly so we're keen to pass this on to his new family to continue in his home and the team will help and support every step of the way. He's very enthusiastic so working with him will be lots of fun. He needs to be the only pet and he'll need a secure garden with high fence for his off-lead zoomies! He can't be left alone so will need somebody around all the time until his confidence has built enough to start working on this. Although he's full of energy, a previous problem with his legs means long days walking the hills are off the cards. His ideal routine is a mad-minute zooming in the garden, a couple of gentle walks and plenty to occupy his mind throughout the day.

More about me

We have already seen Beau grow in confidence so we're certain that in the right environment he'll continue to blossom into a bubbly, affectionate and very interactive companion.

We do everything we can to provide essential care for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs who need us, now more than ever. If you'd like to help us during these challenging times, please make a donation. Your support means so much to us all, thank you.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Leeds Rehoming Centre.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
