Edie (2 years) is such a sweet girl who is great once she has a relationship with you, however she is very worried by unfamiliar people and takes time to build trust. She is more comfortable with females rather than males. Once there is a bond she is very interactive and affectionate. Unfortunately, she does not like being around other dogs so cannot share her home with any pets and must be walked in quiet areas where she won't have any dogs coming up to her. She loves to play with toys and is ace with her training. In the home, she is very clean, calm, and actually rather lazy! She simply enjoys a chilled life. She is still working on a few training areas, like muzzle work, but is ready to start getting to know her new family through regular visits to the centre while we continue her training.

Type of home needed

We are looking for a VERY special home for Edie. Due to her nervous character, she needs a calm and peaceful home in a female only household as she is very worried by men. She will need you to be around all the time initially. She doesn't need attention all the time but just likes to know you're there. In time she will be ok to be left for short periods on her own. There must be few visitors to her home generally (no visiting children at all) and none during her settling in period. She'll need easy access to quiet walking routes as she isn't keen on travelling too far. This also means her home must be no further than 30 minutes from the Leeds rehoming centre. She'll need a secure garden with 5ft fence so she has somewhere to play and explore as she finds her feet. Edie makes great use of that enormous nose and loves playing scent work games such as tracking and man trailing.

More about me

Although Edie is a very sensitive soul, with patient and committed adopters who are willing to visit the centre as many times as needed, and continue her training we believe she will flourish. Once she lets you into her circle she'll be your best friend and enjoy snuggling with you!

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Leeds Rehoming Centre.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
