Rehoming by appointment

Our rehoming centres are open by appointment only. We're still rehoming, but we're doing things a little differently.

I'm looking for a new home...

About Deano

2 to 5 Years

Deano is a handsome three-year-old Cane Corso cross Giant Schnauzer with a larger than life personality! He is a big strong boy who still thinks he is a big puppy; bouncy and excitable, he does not know his own size at times! Although he can appear a bit aloof with some people, he is instantly friendly with everyone he meets and with those he spends a lot of time with, he is loving and affectionate. Deano loves to go for long adventurous walks, he can be very strong on his lead and will need adopters who are willing to carry on with his training regarding 'loose lead walking.' Although Deano can make friends with dogs if he is introduced carefully, quiet, peaceful walks are essential. Deano can be overwhelmed in environments with other dogs. Deano can jump in a car, but he does not travel well at the moment and will therefore need access to walks close to his home. Deano sometimes enjoys playing with toys, he likes 'tug of war' games. Deano enjoys his food, which is ideal for positive reward training, which he loves! He currently knows a 'sit', 'paw' and a 'down', but why not teach him some more tricks as training is great for mental stimulation! Deano is housetrained and would love a nice secure garden with high fences.

Type of home needed

Deano is looking for a highly active home with adopters who can provide lots of physical exercise. Maybe Deano would like to go running with his adopters? He does have a high prey drive to small furries and birds. Care may be needed around livestock. He is looking for an adult home and would be best suited to a quiet household. Experience with large breeds would be very helpful. He is looking to be the only pet in the home but have suitable doggie pals to go for walks with. Any time left alone will need to be built up gradually. Deano is a bit of a 'project dog' and will need plenty of time to settle in. Adopters should be prepared to visit Deano a few times here at the centre prior to adoption.

More about me

Deano will be removed from the website when we he has identified a potential match. If a suitable home isn't found, we will repost Deano's profile on the website.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre in Devon.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
