Rudi is a six-year-old Staffordshire cross with a beautiful coat and big brown eyes. He has a gentle, loving nature that you cannot help fall in love with! He is instantly friendly with new people. He loves his carers and has quickly become a big favourite amoungst our volunteers; he is very affectionate with them, he enjoys fuss and snuggles on a regular basis. Rudi is very clever and loves to learn. He thrives when being trained. It is fun to teach him new things or refresh what he already knows (sit, paw, wait and down to name just a few of his tricks!). Rudi enjoys toy play; He sometimes does zoomies with his toys, he will occasionally go off and bury his toys for safe keeping, but he is great at swap games (throw one-drop one) and will take treats in an exchange. Rudi enjoys fun agility here at the centre. He is keen to jump straight in the car and he travels well. He will need nice quiet walks in rural areas where he does not have to worry about noise; he is worried by traffic noise, building site noise, quarry works etc. Rudi is a sensitive boy who enjoys routine and predictability. He looks to his carers for reassurance. Although Rudi can walk in areas where there are other dogs around, he dislikes them in his personal space and therefore has been trained to wear a muzzle when out on his walks. He is super-comfortable wearing his muzzle, as the positive, reward-based approach we have taken with this training means he sees this as no different from having his harness and lead put on. Rudi is working on his lack of confidence with other dogs by walking alongside calm dogs who are happy to ignore him and not want any interaction.
Type of home needed
Rudi is looking for a loving home in a nice quiet, rural area with limited noise. He could share his home with older teens (fourteen-years plus), and he will need to be the only pet in the home. Rudi's adopters will need to be understanding and full of love and praise for this gorgeous, sensitive boy! He would love a fully enclosed, secure garden to run around in and or regular access to a large secure field. He will need quiet, rural walks to enjoy. Rudi will need someone at home with him whilst he settles in, time left alone can then be built up gradually.
