One year old Toffee is fun, playful and exuberant. She was picked up as a stray so we don't know anything about her early life but the time that she has spent in our care has shown us that she is a sweet, friendly girl who really loves fuss and attention. She enjoys her walks and loves to explore our woodland but she's uncertain about jumping into the car so will need quiet walks from the door, at least initially. Toffee is keen to meet other dogs but her social skills need work (she's far too over-exuberant for most) so she'll need to be the only dog in the home with very gradual introductions to any new walking buddies. Toffee enjoys playing with toys and loves playing ball, she will happily drop one ball so that another can be thrown. Toffee is a bright spark who would benefit from ongoing positive reward training. We suspect that she missed out on this in her early years. She is a happy, fun dog and a joy to spend time with.

Type of home needed

Toffee can be a little overwhelmed by new things so she's looking for a calm, quiet adult-only home with owners who will give her time to settle in. She adores human company so will need her new family to be around most of the time, with hours left built up gradually. Toffee needs a rural home as she can be frightened by traffic passing in close proximity so walks away from roads are a must. We have no knowledge of how Toffee will behave around cats or small furries but feel she may chase so she should be the only pet in the home. Breed experience would be an advantage but isn't essential.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.
