Jay is a two-year-old ex-racing Greyhound, and a sweet, sensitive boy with lots of love to give. Although initially shy, it does not take him long to form a loving bond. He adores a fuss and affection and will lean into you for endless amounts of snuggles. He has soon become a big favourite with our volunteers and has been enjoying trips off-site with them. His love for food knows no end, he enjoys food puzzles and scent games which are great for mental stimulation. He is happy to jump in the boot of a car and enjoys going for walks in quiet places away from the hustle and bustle. He is not the dog for trips to cafes or pubs. He is doing well with his dog social skills and is best suited to walking with calm dogs. He can be worried by bigger, boisterous dogs. As an ex-racing Greyhound Jay is used to wearing his muzzle when out and about and he is happy wearing it. He enjoys playing with toys and when he is given a new one his eyes light up with excitement, especially if it is a squeaky toy. He loves to spend quality time stretched out on a comfy bed with a long-lasting toy that he can chew.

Type of home needed

Jay is looking for a loving home with patient adult adopters who will give him the time to adjust to home living. He will need to be the only dog in the home so he can have all the toys, fuss and food just for him, but he would benefit from having opportunities to go for walks with other dogs when out and about. He will need a home without cats or small furries. Jay will need a nice quiet home environment with walks away from the hustle and bustle. He is looking for a home with a garden. Experience of the breed would be helpful, and any time left alone will need to be built up gradually once he is settled in a new environment. Potential adopters should be prepared to come to the rehoming centre a few times to meet Jay prior to adoption.
