Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Kanai is 9 years old and hasn't had the best of lives. We are confident that we can turn that around for him in the right home. We are looking for a quieter home environment with understanding owners who can give him some space to settle in his own time and show him how lovely it can be to be part of a family.

Type of home needed

Kanai would benefit from living in a home with older children over 16 years as he will need a very hands off approach initially. Having safe spaces in the home where he can relax will be beneficial as he can become overwhelmed in new situations or around new people. For this reason he will need to be kept on lead when in public for his own safety. It is then vital that he has direct access to his own private and very secure garden with 6ft fence to enjoy some freedom, he does enjoy a run around.

More about me

Kanai is looking for a home that can be with him throughout the day and build up the time he is left alone. He will benefit from confidence building and some further training, potential adopters should be committed to seeing this through. He would prefer to be the only pet in the home at the moment as he really deserves some one on one attention. He will make a wonderful addition in the right home. right home and family. We will close applications for Kanai once we have found a suitable home for him. Please note that only the successful applicant will be conatcted.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Kanai, who is based at Glasgow. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
