Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

MD came to us after retiring from a life of racing. He is ready to take the slow lane and enjoy a more relaxed pace. He is currently staying in one of our foster homes but can't wait to land on his paws in his forever home. We are looking for someone who has experience of owning dogs before. It would be best for him to live in an adult only home (18 years plus) with no visiting children.

Type of home needed

MD is looking for a family that can help him settle into family life. He has only ever lived in kennels previously so will need some help with training in a couple of different areas. He will need time to adjust to his new environment so will need a calm and patient family to work with him. Having someone around for most of the day is important to help him settle and focus on any training required. He would do well with an outdoor area where he can slowly be introduced into the home but this is not essential. He could live with another dog but not with cats.

More about me

MD will need to be kept on lead and muzzled in all public areas due to his prey drive so having direct access to his own secure garden with a 6ft fence is a must for him. He will make an excellent addition to the right home.Applications will close for MD when we find a suitable home. Due to current travel restrictions we are looking for a home within 30 minutes of the centre.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Md, who is based at Glasgow. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
