Dogs Trust

UPDATE: Our rehoming centres are closed until further notice, however we are now able to rehome a small number of our amazing dogs. Each dog’s profile will let you know if they are looking for a new home. For the time-being, we are unable to register your interest for dogs who are not yet available for rehoming.

Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public, but we are now able to start looking for new homes for some of the amazing dogs in our care. At the moment, there are only a small number of dogs who are ready for their new home, and we expect them to be very popular. Please bear with us once we have received your enquiry, and we will be in touch to talk further about whether you could be a perfect match! .

If you need urgent help regarding giving up your dog, please contact us immediately and we will offer you as much advice and support as we can. We’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs, while avoiding any close interaction with each other.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked and looked after. We’d like to say a big thank to you, for your continued support.

Louie can be worried around new people and in new situations so will need a gentle and patient family who will give him time and space to settle into his new home. We are looking for an owner who can continue his training so having previous experience of owning a dog is essential.

Type of home needed

Louie was found as a stray and the information we have on him is limited so his new owners should be committed to offering any training provided. He will need a secure garden and this will give him a place to practice his training and also burn some energy. As he is a big lad, a 6ft fence is required. He would prefer to have someone around for most of the day to help him settle but could be left for an hour or two.

More about me

Louie would prefer to be the only pet in the home. He would benefit from further socialisation and confidence building through positive, reward based training. He could live with children over the age of 14 years old who can go slowly with him and give him space if he needs it. Once he gets to know you he is super friendly and enjoys attention. I am looking for a home within 30 minutes drive from the rehoming centre!

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Louie, who is based at Glasgow. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog.

We are temporarily trialling a new ‘handover at home’ service. Instead of asking you to come to the centre to pick up your dog, we will come to you. This will only be suitable for a select number of dogs, as some of our residents require multiple meets with their new owners, and it would be better for them to stay with us until restrictions are lifted and they can spend a bit more time with you before going home.

We will, of course, be doing everything to ensure the safety of our staff, and adopters when we offer this service. You can find out more about this below.
