I am currently looking for my new family. To apply to rehome me please click on the 'Rehoming me starts here' button below. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match. Please note if you rent your property, you must be able to provide written permission from your landlord to keep a dog. We will not be able to reserve any dog until we have received this. Caleb will need to meet his new family multiple times at the centre before going home. If you are shortlisted for this dog please be aware a meet will be arranged at the centre within 48 hours.

Type of home needed

Caleb is a sensitive lad looking for a very special home with experience of owning rescue dogs that need extra help. He needs a rural home with very few visitors where he can go on plenty of walks without bumping into unknown people or other dogs. Being the super active lad he is he loves nothing more than playing with tennis balls - he would do this all day if he could! His new adopters need to channel his brain into something fun for him daily. Our behavioural team are on hand to explain his positive reinforcement training to help him flourish into his best self!

More about me

2 and a half year old Caleb will need an adult only home with a maximum of 2 people, and no visiting children. He finds the world a very scary place at times so is looking for a very understanding new owner who will accept him for who he is - quirks and all. Caleb needs to be kept on lead and muzzled in public due to his worries around strangers and other dogs. He will need his own secure private garden so that he can have some relaxing off-lead time with no neighbouring dogs. Caleb doesn't like being left alone so will need someone at home at all times to begin with to work on this with him and must live as the only pet.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Basildon Rehoming Centre in Essex.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
