Covid-19 update April 2021: Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public for general browsing. We’re still rehoming virtually and we’re here to help if you can no longer care for your dog. Please don’t visit, or travel to our centres unless you have already been matched with a dog, or are leaving donations at one of our contact-free drop off points.

Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public for general browsing.

We kindly ask that you don’t visit, or travel to, our centres. We’re still rehoming, with a virtual matching system and safety measures in place. If you’re matched with a dog, you’ll be invited an appointment at the centre to meet them, and if all goes well, make plans to take them home.

We’re experiencing unprecedented interest in adoption, so please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

I am currently looking for my new family. To apply to rehome me please click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match. I will need to meet my new family at the centre a few times before going home.

Type of home needed

Handsome Captain is looking for a home as special as he is who can meet his multiple needs. He is profoundly deaf so situations most dogs take for granted, he finds challenging. Captain can be very reactive to dogs out and about and can be unsure around strangers so, he will need a home where this can be easily managed. He has started to learn sign language and knows a few different hand signals which is helping him to progress his training! This training will need to be continued in the home, however Captain is a super smart boy and loves to work for treats so this will really help him along with his training! Captain is a sweet lad who deserves a chance to find his forever home.

More about me

Captain is ideally looking for a family who have experience of deaf dogs or are willing to invest the time in working with a dog with additional needs. His new family must be willing to come and meet him here at the centre a number of times to help build up a bond with him before taking him home. He can find new situations unsettling so would love a home with lots of consitency for him. Once he gets comfortable with you, he loves nothing more than giving you plenty of kisses and to curl up next to you on the sofa (and sometimes even on you!). He will need an adult only family with no visiting children and few visiting adults. He must have a secure garden as he cannot be let off lead as he has no recall. Captain will need someone at home with him all the time as he gets very worried being left by himself. He will need someone to slowly help teach him being left alone isn't as scary as he thinks! Captain cannot live with any other pets however he would make a great companion for someone working from home long term!

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.
