Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

About Elvis

2 to 5 Years

Elvis is a 5 year old hound, but he is more than a hound dog, he's a fun and goofy boy who'll amaze you with how clever he is! Once Elvis knows you, he loves to show off his tricks and will lean in for a good neck scratch. He likes to keep busy by learning new things and playing with his toy box full of much-loved squeaky teddies! What Elvis loves more than anything else is using his nose to explore on his walks where he can sniff to his hearts content. When he's not too busy sniffing, he likes to say hello to his canine friends here at the centre. Elvis will keep you on your toes and never fail to make you laugh!

Type of home needed

Elvis is looking for adult owners that live in a rural location with plenty of quiet walking areas nearby. He loves to go on long walks and is strong on the lead so will need active owners that can keep up! A private, secure garden is a must as he enjoys a good run around - access to private land would be an added bonus. Elvis has previously lived in a home, so should pick up house training quickly and once settled could likely be left alone for a couple of hours. He could potentially live with a like-minded dog but would not be suited to a busy home with lots of visitors and cannot live with cats. Elvis will take time to get to know you but with your commitment to multiple meets and help from our behaviour team, his fun, affectionate personality will shine through. He will need trips out to his new home with our behaviour team to help him settle in, so potential adopters must live within a 45 minute drive of the rehoming centre.

More about me

*Due to current restrictions, I cant go to my forever home just yet, but you can contact the rehoming centre to register your interest. When restrictions ease, and if we're a suitable match, you will be able to discuss me in more detail with my carers at the centre. Thank you so much for your interest in me! * Elvis sounds like your perfect match please get in contact to express an interest. Please note if you rent your property you must be able to provide written permission from your landlord to keep a dog to complete the rehome process. If we receive high levels of interest you will only hear back from us if we are able to proceed with your application. We will conduct a rehoming interview with successful applicants and home visit via video. Access to emails and video technology will be essential for this process.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Elvis, who is based at Canterbury. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
