Kita is an absolutely adorable 12 year old Akita with a big heart and gorgeous personality to match. A gentle, friendly sweetheart who loves attention and fuss from everyone she meets, she loves to spend a lot of her time relaxing. Kita gently potters about, sniffing and doing her own thing and really enjoys enrichment activities to settle down with; food filled toys are her favourite! On a sunny day she will take herself off for a roll on the grass in the sunshine and she often starts her day by nibbling the edges of a tennis ball.

Type of home needed

Kita is looking for a peaceful and calm home where she can put her paws up and enjoy her retirement time with adopters who lead a quieter lifestyle. She is a very mellow girl who doesn't ask for much in life; just a short, relaxed stroll, lots of love, a tasty treat now and then and a quiet place to relax for most of her day. She gets on well with other dogs and could live with another easy-going, calm dog who will give her space and not want to play too much. She could also live with children aged 12 and over who would be calm and gentle around her. Kita will need access to her own secure garden and her home environment would ideally be without any stairs to go up and down. Although she is a big girl, Kita has such a lovely nature that she will make a very low maintenance, calm companion.

More about me

Kita is doing really well for an older girl. While she has been in her foster home, she has been receiving regular check-ups and medication to help with some ongoing medical needs she has. Kita's adopters will be contacted by our vet team to discuss her medical history and her ongoing care. If Kita sounds like your perfect match, please get in contact to express an interest. Please note if you rent your property, you must be able to provide written permission from your landlord to keep a dog to complete the rehome process. Due to expected high levels of interest you will only hear back from us if we are able to proceed with your application. We will conduct a rehoming interview with successful applicants and home visit via video. Access to emails and video technology will be essential for this process.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Canterbury Rehoming Centre in Kent.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
