Due to an overwhelming response we are no longer taking applications for JD.Say hello to JD - a clever 6-year-old Schnauzer x Poodle looking for a special forever home. JD is a sensitive soul who needs a hands-off approach until he is comfortable with you. It can take him a while to build trusting relationships, so he will need multiple, regular visits from his new family. He is an energetic boy who loves his toys and loves to keep his brain busy with training games and enrichment. He has been working hard with our behaviour team and his new family must be committed to continuing this training.
Type of home needed
JD needs an adult only home with no more than 3 people and minimal visitors. JD will need patient owners that can dedicate time to building his confidence and continuing his training under the guidance of our behaviour team. He is wary of other dogs and does not like to share his toys or space, so he needs to be the only pet in the home with access to his own secure, private garden and low dog populated areas for walks. He has lived in a home before so has previously been housetrained (but may need reminding), knows some basics and loves a gentle fuss once he trusts you. Potential adopters must live within 45 minutes of the Canterbury centre as he will need multiple meets here and then for our behaviour team to bring him for home visits.
More about me
If JD sounds like your perfect match please get in contact to express an interest. Please note if you rent your property you must be able to provide written permission from your landlord to keep a dog to complete the rehome process. Due to expected high levels of interest you will only hear back from us if we are able to proceed with your application. Due to the current government guidelines we are unable to rehome to any families that are vulnerable or self-isolating. We will conduct a rehoming interview with successful applicants and home visit via video. Access to emails and video technology will be essential for this process.
During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our
rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful
staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now
able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs.
This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of
being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by
your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without
your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to
those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs
get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them
their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult
time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue
looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...
