Rehoming by appointment

Our rehoming centres are open by appointment only. We're still rehoming, but we're doing things a little differently.

I'm looking for a new home...

Barkley is a handsome 5 year old large crossbreed. He is a shy boy who takes a little time to feel comfortable around new people but once he does he likes a gentle fuss and a snuggle. Barkley loves chasing a tennis ball although we are still working on him bringing it back! He enjoys being off lead in our secure field, where he will have his nose to the floor exploring. He is a clever boy and has done lots of extra training here to help him in his new home.

Type of home needed

Barkley needs an understanding adult only home with adopters who will give him time and space to settle in. He must have direct access to his own secure garden. Barkley will need to be the only pet in the home and would like to live in an area with a low dog population as he can get stressed out around other dogs. Barkley will need multiple meets at the rehoming centre and home visits with our behaviour team before being adopted, so potential adopters must live within a 45-minute drive of the Canterbury Rehoming Centre.

More about me

If Barkley sounds like your perfect match please get in contact to express an interest. Please note if you rent your property you must be able to provide written permission from your landlord to keep a dog to complete the rehome process. Due to expected high levels of interest you will only hear back from us if we are able to proceed with your application. Due to the current government guidelines we are unable to rehome to any families that are self-isolating. We will conduct a rehoming interview with successful applicants and home visit via video. Access to emails and video technology will be essential for this process.

We do everything we can to provide essential care for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs who need us, now more than ever. If you'd like to help us during these challenging times, please make a donation. Your support means so much to us all, thank you.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Canterbury Rehoming Centre in Kent.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
