Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

We are still taking interest in Odie; however, he does require multiple visits from potential adopters and due to current lockdown restrictions, we are unable to undertake these visits at this time.

Type of home needed

Odie is a sensitive 1 year old Anatolian Shepherd cross. He is a big lad who will need some time to get to know you. He can get worried in new situations and will bark if unsure, but with slow handling and reassurance he does come around. Once he knows you, he is loyal and with some tasty treats, he is also eager to learn. Odie loves being off lead in the field and playing with some of his doggy friends, but his play at times an get rough and a little over the top. He could live with another dog already established in the home, but it would need to be of similar size and play style. He cannot live with cats. Odie is best suited to an adult only home with experience of bigger breeds, so that his training can be put into place using positive, reward based methods.

More about me

Odie can be strong on the lead and new owners will need to be able to manage this safely. He travels well in the car and loves to explore new places. He will need his own private, secure garden to run and play with his toys. Odie is looking for loving, committed owners who will give him time and space to settle. Multiple visits to the centre are required to get to know him and start building up that relationship.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Odie, who is based at Bridgend (Wales). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
