Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

We are still taking interest in Batfink; however, he does require multiple visits from potential adopters and due to current lockdown restrictions we are unable to undertake these visits at this time. To place and interest, please click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below.

Type of home needed

Batfink is a lively 18 month old Crossbreed. This little chap is full of energy and would love to find a home where he will go on nice long walks, but also have lots of mental stimulation. Batfink is shy when first meeting new people, but with slow handling and some tasty treats he soon comes out of his shell, but he will still need slow introductions when meeting new people in the home. He is looking for a stable and loving adult only home who will continue with his training needs and who have previous experience owning a dog. Batfink is under socialised with other dogs and doesn't know how to react around them, so his socialising will need to be built up gradually with calm doggy friends. He will need to be the only dog in the home and unfortunately, he is unable to live with cats and small furries.

More about me

Batfink would prefer owner's who are around during the day to keep him company as we are not sure what he will be like being left for longer periods and he may also need some encouragement with his house training. Multiple visits to the centre may be needed to build up that bond with him before going home. Batfink is a firm favourite with the staff as he is such a great fun personality once he has that relationship with you.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Batfink, who is based at Bridgend (Wales). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
