We’ve set up new processes which include social distancing measures to help keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

We’re now matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can now meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment and this now applies to all of our rehoming centres in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Shep is a sweet chap with a sensitive side. It will take him time to build trust in new people, but after allowing him the time he needs, you'll begin to start the foundations of a life-long friendship. Once Shep is your pal, he'll relish your company & show you how affectionate he can be. He's a smart chap and really enjoys his food - making him a great dog to participate with in fun, reward-based training. Shep also enjoys settling down with a chew, exploring in quiet areas and spending time with his favourite people.

Type of home needed

Much more of a 'ladies' man', Shep can be worried by strangers but is particularly wary of men. His potential owners must be willing to spend time coming to the centre on several occasions to get to know him, and he cannot live in a male-only household. He is looking for an adult-only home with minimal visitors. He will need a space or room of his own where he can take himself off for quiet time and must have a private, secure garden with at least 6ft high fencing. Shep enjoys the company of other friendly dogs so he could have walking buddies, but he will need to be the only pet at home. He needs a quieter lifestyle - including a peaceful home environment that can provide him with some structure and routine, as well as walks in rural, quiet areas.

More about me

Shep will make a wonderful companion to owners who can allow him the time he needs to settle into home life, while providing him with consistency. In line with current government guidelines, we can open to the public through a limited, appointment-only basis. Please call us to register your interest in Shep, and if it seems you could be a match, you may be invited to our centre for an appointment to meet him. PLEASE NOTE: His new home must be within a 90 minutes' drive to our Rehoming Centre.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Shep, who is based at Shoreham (Sussex). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. We can’t register interest for dogs who aren’t available for rehoming. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
