Dogs Trust

UPDATE: Our rehoming centres are closed until further notice, however we are now able to rehome a small number of our amazing dogs. Each dog’s profile will let you know if they are looking for a new home. For the time-being, we are unable to register your interest for dogs who are not yet available for rehoming.

Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public, but we are now able to start looking for new homes for some of the amazing dogs in our care. At the moment, there are only a small number of dogs who are ready for their new home, and we expect them to be very popular. Please bear with us once we have received your enquiry, and we will be in touch to talk further about whether you could be a perfect match! .

If you need urgent help regarding giving up your dog, please contact us immediately and we will offer you as much advice and support as we can. We’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs, while avoiding any close interaction with each other.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked and looked after. We’d like to say a big thank to you, for your continued support.

Stevie is a long term resident here but, despite a few quirks, we know he could easily make someone the best companion ever! He has a really silly nature, and loves nothing more than playing with his squeaky toys. He's a clever boy, and really enjoys the training that we are doing with him, he's learned a lot of new things. He walks nicely on the lead & is happy to make friends with new dogs but can be a little wary of men that he doesn't know so likes to be slowly introduced to them.

Type of home needed

Stevie can be quite excitable when he meets new people and other dogs, because of this he will need to be the only pet in an adult-only home, where he will have plenty of attention & love. He will benefit from a home with experienced owners & someone as fun-loving as he is who will want to carry on with his training. He does have a medical condition which doesn't require any medication but means that he needs to have the amount and type of exercise that he does kept to a minimum so that he doesn't get too hot. But as a typical Greyhound, he's more than happy to spend most of his day in bed.

More about me

I am not currently available for rehoming as i would like to meet my new family a few times before i go home, which is not possible at the moment due to current restrictions. My Canine Carers will let you know as soon as this changes, so keep an eye on my profile.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Stevie, who is based at Shrewsbury (Shropshire). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog.

We are temporarily trialling a new ‘handover at home’ service. Instead of asking you to come to the centre to pick up your dog, we will come to you. This will only be suitable for a select number of dogs, as some of our residents require multiple meets with their new owners, and it would be better for them to stay with us until restrictions are lifted and they can spend a bit more time with you before going home.

We will, of course, be doing everything to ensure the safety of our staff, and adopters when we offer this service. You can find out more about this below.
