Are you right for Mr Freckles?

Mr Freckles is a big and handsome 2 year old Dobermann who arrived into our care after being found as a stray. Since coming into our care, he has been a real whirlwind who is full of energy! Mr Freckles is looking for an active home that can put his energy into something positive, he can sometimes struggle with his concentration so adopters will need to be committed to making training and fun and positive experience for him. He may need some support with things such as housetraining and we recommend that any time being left alone is built up gradually, leaving him with things to give himself occupied. Being a big lad, he can be quite strong on the lead and hasn't quite mastered his manners, so new owners will need to be confident in holding him and continuing his training. He can sometimes get himself a little overwhelmed and isn't always as confident as he initially appears which can lead to behaviours such as jumping up and over arousal, so will need some guidance on making better choices. Mr Freckles can find lots of handling a bit scary and has been learning to wear a muzzle for things such as bath time. Due to his worries he is looking for a home with adults only who can learn to read his body language. Whilst Mr Freckles LOVES to play with other dogs, he can be a bit inappropriate at times and isn't the best at reading social queues. He will need to be the only pet for now however with time and practice this could change.

Is Mr Freckles right for you?

Mr Freckles does have a condition called Colour Dilution Alopecia and whilst this doesn't cause him discomfort his new family will need to consider any extra needs going forward (such as dog sun cream in the summer). Our team would be happy to discuss his needs in more detail with any potential adopters. Mr Freckles' new family will need to be committed to visiting him a few times here at the centre and feel confident getting involved in his ongoing training. He will need some support and guidance as he settles into home life and may need support with things such as settling and relaxing.
