Are you right for Squash?

Squash can live with older teens but will need to be the only pet due to her reactivity to other dogs. We have no history for her and cannot guarantee that she is house trained or used to spending time alone. Her family will need to be prepared to work on these if necessary.

Is Squash right for you?

Squash is such a lovely girl and we think she may have been through a hard time. She was incredibly underweight on arrival and in her first few minutes she spotted a bag full of food that she swallowed, bag and all! Her first few hours involves a trip to the vet to make her sick, so she's made quite the impression. We're working on gently getting her back to a healthy weight with regular appropriate food but her family may have to watch for any food that is left lying around the house in case Squash tries to snaffle it. We know nothing of her background but she seems to prefer walking at quiet times and a quiet environment in general. Squash is very sweet and friendly and she's beginning to learn that she can trust her handlers. She is happy to see other dogs but her social skills are lacking and if they move away after she's said hello she does tend to bark at them. This is another area that Squash's adopters will need to work on, she clearly enjoys being around other dogs so it would be unfair to try and avoid them altogether, much better to help her work on her interactions with them, and help is always available from our behaviour team. Squash comes alive when the toys come out and she happily drops them for you to throw again for you. She's such a sweetheart and really deserves a better future than the past she seems to have had.
