Are you right for Luna?

Luna will thrive in a moderate to active home with a calm, predictable routine. She really flourishes in environments where she can feel secure, and a quieter household will give her the opportunity to build confidence at her own pace. Once she has settled in, she will be able to enjoy regular visits from familiar friends and family. She would do best in an adult-only home or one with older teenagers who can understand her needs and give her the space she requires. She may also be able to live comfortably alongside dog‑savvy older primary school children who can recognise her signals and support her in feeling safe. Luna’s new family should be enthusiastic about continuing her positive training journey, including confidence‑building, gentle desensitisation, and supportive lead‑walking practice. She truly shines when she knows what to expect, so a steady routine and low-pressure environment will help her continue to grow and make progress. Luna will need to be the only pet in the home. With patient guidance and ongoing training, her adopters can help her continue improving around dogs and other animals, setting her up for success in the long term.

Is Luna right for you?

Luna is a lovely four-year-old Border Collie who has joined us through our Homestay Scheme due to a change in her owners’ circumstances. She is an intelligent, affectionate girl who adores playing with her ball and enjoys gentle cuddles with the people she knows and trusts. Luna forms deep bonds with her familiar humans and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement, showing how eager she is to build relationships and learn. Luna is also a sensitive soul who takes time to feel comfortable with new people, unfamiliar places, and certain types of handling. She can become worried in these situations, and she may react to other dogs or become excited around wildlife and larger animals such as horses and deer. With calm guidance and understanding, she is able to feel much more secure. She has excellent house manners and is reliably toilet-trained, with no reports of indoor toileting from her previous home. Luna can also be left alone for up to four hours at a time, several times a week, and she settles very well—she is neither vocal nor destructive when left. Luna is happy to jump into the car and is gaining confidence with travel. She may pant and find it difficult to relax at first, but she tends to settle more comfortably on the return journey as she becomes more familiar with the routine.
