Are you right for Potato?

Potato is a sweet and affectionate 6 year 8 month old Chihuahua x Pug who has settled beautifully into foster care and loves being part of home life. He enjoys exploring, playing with his toys both independently and with his humans, and is always happy to curl up for a fuss and belly tickles — although he prefers not to be restrained or held in place. Potato can initially be vocal towards unfamiliar visitors, but once he realises he is safe, he quickly warms up and will happily approach for attention. He travels well in the car, is fully housetrained, settles well overnight, and has lovely manners in the home. As he does struggle being left alone, any time left will need to be introduced gradually and patiently once he has settled into his new environment. Potato would suit a calm, understanding home where he can continue to build confidence and feel secure. Potential adopters will need to be willing to visit the centre several times to help Potato build a secure and trusting bond before going to his new home. As Potato is currently in foster care, he is not available to meet at the centre without a prior appointment. If you feel you could offer Potato the right home, please add him to your favourites on your online application to register your interest.

Is Potato right for you?

Potato is looking for an adult-only home or one with sensible secondary school aged children who can respect his boundaries and understand when he may feel nervous. He will need to be the only pet in the home, as he can be uncomfortable around other dogs and prefers having his own space and routine. He has a medium to moderate energy level and really enjoys his walks and opportunities to explore the world around him. Potato would thrive with adopters who are around for much of the day initially and who are committed to helping him gradually learn that being left alone is okay. In return, he offers lots of companionship, entertainment, and affection, and will make a loyal little friend for someone willing to give him the patience, reassurance, and love he deserves.
