Are you right for Minty?

Minty is a lovely senior gentleman with a gentle soul who is hoping to spend his golden years in a calm, understanding home where he can relax and feel safe. He would flourish in a peaceful, adult‑only household that values quiet routines and gives him the space he needs to feel secure. Minty is happiest as the centre of attention and would love to be the only pet in the home. A private garden of his own would be a wonderful bonus, giving him a safe place to enjoy gentle outdoor time. He’s best suited to experienced, dog‑savvy adopters who appreciate the subtleties of canine communication and understand how to support a sensitive dog. When Minty feels unsure around unfamiliar people or situations, he is very clear about communicating his need for space. With patient, respectful handling and the freedom to approach things at his own pace, he can feel much more confident. Minty is already receiving supportive behaviour plans focused on building confidence, managing visitors, preparing calmly for vet visits, and supporting positive routines around resources. Ongoing advice and post‑adoption support will be available to help ensure a smooth and successful transition into his new home. As a senior dog, Minty does have some medical needs, which could involve additional costs. These can be discussed in more detail if your application is shortlisted. If this is something you’re concerned about, please don’t hesitate to apply anyway—we’re very happy to talk things through. Minty has so much love to give the right home, and with patience, understanding, and kindness, he could be a truly special companion.

Is Minty right for you?

Minty is a sweet 16‑year‑old Jack Russell Terrier cross Chihuahua who came into our care through our Homestay scheme after the sad loss of his owner. He is a sensitive, loyal little dog who enjoys quiet companionship, relaxing in his cosy bed and playing with his toys. Minty thrives in a calm, predictable home where his space is respected and routines are consistent. He is housetrained, settles well when left for short periods (around 1–2 hours), and would suit a home where time alone is kept minimal. Car journeys can feel a little stressful for Minty, but travelling close to his trusted person helps him feel more secure. With patience and understanding, Minty shows his affectionate side and makes a wonderfully devoted companion for the right home.
